To provide delegates with a basic level of understanding and awareness of safety and emergency response on offshore installations. Delegates will be required to demonstrate their skills and a level of knowledge and understanding of key areas, as defined in the OPITO Standard for Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (BOSIET).
The course is designed for personnel intending to work on an offshore installation and forms part of a Common Offshore Safety Induction process. The BOSIET is required for all personnel working in the offshore industry.
The additional elements covered in this course will allow the person to work in all regions worldwide (excluding Norway)
The course focuses on the following elements
Safety Induction: Offshore hazards, their control and consequences. Waste disposal/environmental awareness. How offshore safety is regulated. How offshore safety is
managed. Procedures for prescribed medicines. Alcohol and substance abuse policy. PPE requirements. Procedures for reporting incidents, accidents and near misses. Role of the Medic.
Helicopter Safety & Escape: Pre boarding. Safe boarding. In flight safety. Safe disembarkation. In flight emergency actions. Use of Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System equipment. Practical Dry Compressed Air Emergency escape Breathing System training. Use of Emergency Breathing Systems. Practical Dry use of Emergency Breathing Systems. Practical emergency ditching and escape training.
Abandonment theory and practical sea survival training. Actions for mustering and boarding of a survival craft, and actions as a passenger during launching operations. Use of helicopter rescue strops, and winching procedures. Emergency First Aid including CPR.
Firefighting and Self Rescue: Nature and causes of fire. Fixed systems and response. Use of hand held extinguishers. Operation of fixed hose reels. Self-rescue techniques in reduced visibility and completely obscured visibility. Use of escape hoods
A valid, unexpired Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) offshore medical certificate confirming the delegate’s fitness for offshore work (OR a valid, unexpired offshore medical certificate issued by a body outside Ghana which is recognized as equivalent to the OGUK medical certificate of fitness for offshore work) AND possess a certificate of fitness to undertake shallow water CA-EBS training issued by a registered OGUK examining doctor fitness to train certificate.

Certification on successful completion of course will include OPITO approved Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System & or OPITO approved Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training with Emergency Breathing System

To provide delegates with an opportunity to practice and demonstrate skills which it is not possible to practice offshore during drills, exercises and normal offshore training.
Delegates will be assessed against the learning outcomes of the OPITO standard for Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET)
This programme is designed to meet the further onshore safety and emergency response training and assessment requirements for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry. It consists of further training and assessment in Helicopter Safety & Escape, Fire fighting and Self rescue and Emergency First aid.
The additional elements will also allow the delegate to work worldwide (excluding Norway)

Delegates must have attended either a BOSIET with CA-EBS, BOSIET with EBS, T-BOSIET or FOET, FOET with EBS, T-FOET and be in possession of a valid certificate.
A valid, unexpired Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) offshore medical certificate confirming the delegate’s fitness for offshore work (OR a valid, unexpired offshore medical certificate issued by a body outside Ghana which is recognized as equivalent to the OGUK medical certificate of fitness for offshore work) AND possess a certificate of fitness to undertake shallow water CA-EBS training issued by a registered OGUK examining doctor fitness to train certificate.

This OPITO approved training is designed to meet the requirements of personnel travelling offshore by helicopter.
A valid, unexpired Oil and Gas (OGUK) offshore medical certificate confirming the delegate’s fitness for offshore work (OR a valid, unexpired offshore medical certificate issued by a body outside Ghana which is recognized as equivalent to the OGUK medical certificate of fitness for offshore work) AND possess a certificate of fitness to undertake shallow water CA-EBS training issued by a registered OGUK examining doctor fitness to train certificate.
On successful completion of the training programme delegates will be issued with an OPITO approved certificate and entered onto OPITO’s Central register. Validity 4 years
